WhatsApp is where Indian wedding invitations travel now. But a forwarded image in a busy family group is easy to miss. Here is how to send an invitation that guests open, read and save.
1. Send a link, not a heavy file
Videos and large PDFs get compressed, take data to download and disappear up the chat. A link shows a neat preview card with your image and title, opens instantly in the browser, and always shows the latest details. That is why website invitations work so well on WhatsApp.
2. Personalise the link for each guest
Add the guest’s name at the end of your invitation link, for example:
momentix.imaginyx.com/rahulwedsananya?to=Sharma%20Uncle
The invitation then opens with “Dear Sharma Uncle, your seat is reserved”. It takes a few extra seconds per guest and makes the invitation feel hand-delivered.
3. Write a short, warm message
Put the link at the end of a short message. Here are messages you can copy.

Hinglish (for friends)

More lines for every tone are in our wedding invitation wording guide.
4. Pick the right time
- Save the date: 3–6 months before, especially for destination weddings.
- The invitation: 4–6 weeks before the first function.
- A reminder: 2–3 days before, with the same link. The countdown on the page does the rest.
Send in the morning or early evening. Late-night messages get buried under the next morning’s good-morning forwards.
5. Groups, broadcasts or one by one?
Family groups are fast but impersonal. Broadcast lists reach each person privately, but only people who have saved your number receive them. For elders and close family, send one by one with their name in the link, and call them first if you can.
6. Mistakes to avoid
- Sending a 40 MB video that half your guests never download.
- Different versions of the card floating around after a venue change. With one link you update once.
- Forgetting the map. Always include directions for every venue.
- No contact number. Add a phone number for the family member handling guests.
Make a WhatsApp-ready invitation
